Obergon Bursts onto iPhone and iPod

Brisbane, Australia

Brisbane-based Light Energy Studios have today announced the launch of their intriguing debut game called ‘Obergon’ for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Obergon is a turn-based strategy/puzzle game which is refreshingly simple and appealing. It is highly intuitive, involving the movement of bubbles by tapping to create ripples. Points are scored by matching bubbles and lives are lost if two bubbles of different colours touch. This simple premise is very compelling and the game has a very realistic, yet somehow other-worldly, surreal ‘feel’ to it. This is enhanced by the quirky sound effects and soothing atmospheric background music.

Steve Moore, the game’s programmer, says “Whilst striving to build upon our original game idea, we wanted to capture the essence and charm of simple, addictive classics like Pacman, Tetris and Asteroids, but with the modern twist that touch-sensitive screens bring.  Another of our design goals was that no two games should ever be the same… and of course that it should be fun!  We feel we have achieved all these goals with Obergon and are excited about the feedback we’ve had from everyone that’s played it so far. It seems we’ve hit upon a highly addictive, yet therapeutic and soothing game!”

Obergon is available in the iTunes App Store now.
